Sunday the 31st - Marni's Birthday!
It is a nice morning with the sun shining and a promise of a beautiful day. We got up early so we could get an early start. After our normal morning get up and go routine we hit the road by 8:00 AM headed towards Gary Indiana. We caught the I-94 freeway and threaded our way through off and on construction over to I-294, the "Tri States" freeway. Once on the I-294 we ran into continuous construction with only one lane open and most of that lane down to an eleven foot width with traffic cones on the left and a barrier wall on the right. Speed was set at 45 mph but everybody wanted to do 50 or more. Oh yeah, it is a toll road so we got to pay for the privilege of driving on a piece of trash highway. This continued for about eighty miles with short stretches of completed road in between along with five toll boots where we paid about $17.00 to make this extremely nasty drive.
Eventually we crossed into Wisconsin and got off on the side roads towards Trevor and Denise's house. Here we found a road that for three miles had us rattling our teeth so bad we had to slow down to about 20 mph from the posted 45 mph. Yikes!! Finally we reach Denise's and pulled into her driveway. She has a beautiful home in a small community. We spent the afternoon and evening visiting. Daughter Heather and husband Mike were there and later another daughter, Leanne and husband Jim came over and brought granddaughter Summer with them.
After a couple of hours I went outside and set up the rig for our stay.
