Visit to Tina's Aunt and Uncle in Highland, IN

Saturday the 30th

We left Holland Michigan and headed south along Lake Michigan towards Gary Indiana. The road surfaces are absolutely terrible and it feels like the rig is being shaken apart. A couple of hours later we are in Indiana just east of Gary in a little town called Portage where we stop at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park. This is a huge facility built around a large fishing and boating pond but sandwiched between a freeway on one side and a set of railroad tracks on the other.

Since it is Saturday we decided to just stay one night for visiting so we could travel up past Chicago on a Sunday rather than trying to go north on a work day.

We got set up in our spot and called Uncle Allen to set a time to go over to their place. We had lunch, took the dogs for a long walk then around 3:30 PM, with our trusty instructions in hand, set out for Highland Indiana about 15 miles away.

We got to Uncle Allen's around 4:00 PM and met Allen, his wife Rosemary, daughter Sherry and son Dale. After a couple of hours visiting and looking at photos we went in for dinner. The ladies had made a ham and three different side dishes, two pasta salads and a potato salad. Everything was delicious.

After dinner we sat around the table for a couple of hours then had desert, Pecan Pie and Ice Cream with coffee. Simply divine!!

Then we had a surprise visit, Dales son Dale Jr and his girlfriend Tiffany stopped by. Around 9:30 PM we took some family photos, thanked Allan and his family for a wonderful evening and said our goodbyes so we could get home before it got too late. We really had a very nice visit.
